The Ministry of Economy has proposed partial governmental support this year for three primary commodities, in which prices saw a significant increase lately.
Director of the Commercial Administration of the Ministry of Economy Mustafa Qadara said they proposed a subsidy value of 40% for items including wheat, rice, and cooking oil.
“The soaring global food prices, especially wheat, had a significant impact on the loaf of bread,” Qadara said.
According to Qadara, the price of rice during the past months went up by 75%, as well as cooking oil, indicating that the current prices do not fit with the local purchasing capacity.
